Andropause/DUTCH Test

Hormone imbalances are increasingly common and can occur in men and women. As you age, your natural hormone production will decline and can lead to symptoms of menopause in women and in men, known as andropause.

Over time, men experience a gradual loss of their hormones. Testosterone and DHEA levels fall and estrogen levels tend to rise. This usually occurs around the age of 40.

Symptoms of hormone imbalance can vary and can include: hot flashes, night sweats, weight gain, insomnia, decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, low energy, memory loss, hair loss, loss of lean muscle mass, adult acne, abnormal hair growth, thyroid dysfunction, bone loss, anxiety and depression and increased risk of prostate cancer

WHAT IS THE DUTCH TEST?

The DUTCH test (Dry Urine Test for Comprehensive Hormones) is a complete assessment of sex and adrenal hormones, along with their metabolites, as well as six new organic acid tests (OATs)*. These new markers make DUTCH testing the most comprehensive overview of patient-health, all from one easy to use test which can be done in the comfort of your own home.

Andropause/DUTCH Test? WHAT CAN BE DONE?

Men don’t typically like to visit their doctor and may think andropause is just a part of getting older. However, like everything, you don’t need to suffer. Port Moody Health offers a test called the DUTCH test to assess whether your body is going through andropause, to which we can formulate a plan on how to successfully navigate the next chapter.

WHY THE DUTCH TEST?

Our dried urine collection process is the ultimate test to get great baseline measurements of men with hormonal imbalances and to monitor Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT).

HOW THE DUTCH TEST WORKS:

A kit will be provided to you with complete instructions for you to provide a saliva and/or urine sample.
Once samples are collected, you will send them off to the lab for testing. Your health care provider will receive the results and an appointment will be scheduled to discuss the results as well as a plan to track and evaluate hormone levels, ensuring they are at their optimum balance.
